According to a source, Windows 11 users may get a Tabs feature for the Notepad software in the first half of 2023. Microsoft staffer is alleged to have unintentionally posted an image of the quality on Twitter while it was still in the early stages of testing within the firm.
Before it was removed, Windows Central saw the tweet. Microsoft introduced tabs for File Explorer earlier this year, and according to reports, Notepad will be the first built-in tool to acquire this capability.
A Microsoft employee reportedly released a screenshot of an internal version of Notepad online along with the emoji for a loudspeaker. The image displayed the Notepad app’s new tabs interface and the secret notice, “Don’t discuss features or take screenshots,” at the top.
It is believed that Microsoft’s tabs feature is now undergoing preliminary internal testing and will be released soon. Four years ago, Microsoft allegedly tried tabs across all Windows 10 apps, including Notepad and File Explorer, but it has yet to make the capability available to Windows 10 users. However, it might now be added to additional Windows 11 programs.
In the meantime, Microsoft has just begun Windows Subsystem for Android (WSA) testing on Windows 11 with support for running Android 13 through a beta version. The American giant made the same announcement through a dedicated GitHub discussion thread.
Those who have already joined the Windows Subsystem for Android Preview Program can use Windows Subsystem for Android 13 on Windows 11.
The most recent WSA version for Android 13 support on Windows 11 will include the capability along with nine-speed enhancements and fixes. The WSA version number for it will be 2211.40000.7.0. Additionally, it is claimed to increase boot speed by up to 50%.
